Starting School

Starting school is one of those milestones in life for both parents and child alike; it is exciting and perhaps a little daunting at the same time. Here at Leven Valley we aim to ensure that it is a positive experience to enable children to become confident and happy in their new surroundings.

How to apply for primary school?

Information about this is available mid September in the year before your child can start school. The closing date for Reception applications to start in September is 15th January in the same year.

The closing date is very important. Don't let your child miss out by applying late.

Information and an application form can be obtained from the school office, your pre-school provider and/or Westmorland & Furness Council website, click here .

Parents will be notified by the local authority of their school allocation in April, then we will contact you to outline transition arrangements later in the summer term.

If you are moving into the area and interested in finding out more about Leven Valley School, please give us a call. We are very happy to meet you and show you around school. To transfer primary schools you will asked to complete an 'In-Year Transfer Form' - these are available in school or online here.
