Outdoor Activities

Being based in the Lake District, there seems no excuse not to make the very most of what it has to offer, so that's exactly what we aim to do! Outdoor activities are adventurous activities that usually take place in the wild and natural environment, whether that be in the woods, on the water or up in the fells, and it's this that adds a different dimension in comparison to traditional sports and games.

Outdoor activities can offer individual challenges or demand collaborative teamwork, but usually in a non-competitive context and inclusive. This can appeal to those who are not motivated by competetive sports and carried out a whatever level of personal challenge is required. Involvement in outdoor activities also promotes an appreciation for the natural world and encourages a healthy lifestyle, all of which adds to a sense of well-being.

Throughout their time at Leven Valley, children experience a range of adventurous activities, often beginning with taster sessions, before moving on to skills acquistion and putting themselves to the test with challenges and longer journeys.

Some adventurous activities are regulated and are delivered by suitably qualified instructors and staff.
