Leven Valley C of E Primary School

Welcome

Leven Valley School is beautifully situated at the foot of Haverthwaite Heights, between the old railway track and the River Leven.  Close to the Whitewater Hotel which was previously the `Dolly Blue Works’, it is part of a small community which has an interesting historical and geographical background.  The school itself stands in spacious grounds against woodlands and natural countryside, which is a source of enrichment for many curriculum activities throughout the year.

The children come from a wide catchment area and may travel into school by taxi, coach or car; there is a strong family feeling within the school and the children enjoy a happy, secure environment in which they are valued as individuals. The school’s catchment area encompasses the parishes of Colton, Finsthwaite, Field Broughton, Staveley-in-Cartmel, Haverthwaite, Satterthwaite, Rusland, and Cartmel Fell.

The school is a Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary School for children from 4 to 11 years, with a strong link to our local churches St Anne’s in Haverthwaite, St Mary's in Staveley-in-Cartmel and St Peter's in Finsthwaite, although all children are welcome and religious education is non-denominational.

Our philosophy and ethos reflect Christian values and we have well behaved, motivated and confident children who think of others and are keen to learn, as such Christian values form the basis for all relationships and teaching in the school.

Our vision is to provide a distinctive Christian community where children are happy and motivated to learn through Christian values. The school will be inclusive, creative, imaginative and enquiry lead so that children attain their very best education.
